Dr. Inês Félix
Veterinary surgeon. Integrated master’s degree from the Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine at ULHT, in 2014, and in companion-animal practice ever since —
twelve years to date.
She did her internship in London, at the Royal Veterinary College,
where she took part in prospective studies of feline and canine hypertension. Her
master’s thesis is on the role of nitrous oxide in the development of feline
hypertension. That is where the house rule comes from: everyone gets measured.
She holds a certified postgraduate qualification in Veterinary
Dermatology (GPCert, ISVPS) — the field that interests her most — and runs
specialist consultations at PetDoctors, on an ambulatory basis and as a consultant
for other clinics. She also does general surgery and internal medicine: her interest
is not limited to skin, it is animal health as a whole.

A word nobody understands
What a GPCert actually is.
It is a certified postgraduate qualification (General Practitioner Certificate) from ISVPS, taken by an already qualified vet in one specific field, with assessment. In dermatology, it is about treating what causes the sign — itching, alopecia, hair loss, wounds — and not only the sign.
It is not a weekend course or a certificate of attendance: it involves cases,
examinations and a board. In dermatology, it is the difference between treating the
symptom you can see — the itch — and looking for the cause that keeps it going: food
allergy, environmental allergy, parasite, secondary infection, endocrine disease.
